Chantelle Steggerda: “I love photography. I’m untrained and don’t have much time to invest in it, but I love it nonetheless. The photos I post to my flickr are a few of my myriad of meager tries. I’m going on 22, although people have been mistaking me for 17 for about 8 years now. It’s a little old, but I’m sure many of you understand that. I feel that life has been speeding by for the past 5 years. It scares me sometimes…I’m sure many of you understand that, too. Photography helps me slow down and notice. Like my mom told me on my 21st birthday, how you live your days is how you live your life.”

Kim Nixon: 2010 dawned with personal physical changes. The photo capture is of a poster in a dance-store window on 3rd Street in Marquette Michigan and was caught with reflected winter scene at sunset. When arriving home, I realized the dancer in the photo is in surrender to winter. Embracing. Taking a leap. And she does so with the faith and strength I must find.

Jocelynne Broderick:I’ve always loved photography, from my first 110 film camera to my current Nikon D50. I have two boys that are 8 and 10, and now that I’m not following them around with the camera trying to capture their ‘firsts’, I have some time on my hands. Now I take photos of things that catch my eye in my home and out in the world. Sunsets. Stop signs. Shadows. I like trying out other cameras too: a 15 year-old Polaroid, a new Lomo Fisheye, and some through-the-viewfinder fun with an old twin lens reflex Minolta. I even love those kitschy photo booths! Bottom line: I like having fun with photography. Find me on Flickr at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jocelynneb/

Marcie ScudderMy passion and interest for the visual world began at a very young age. Although trained and working as an architect, I never stopped practicing photography. I am known to have my camera always with me, turning my lens towards anything that captivates my attention. By using natural light and whatever opportunity presents itself, I aim to capture the hidden beauty and emotion that lies beyond the obvious. Whether it be birds and ducks, or landscapes, or dogs happily at play - I seek out the joy. My hope is to catch the fleeting snapshots of life, the transitions between the formal poses, and the messy and magical all at once and together. It is within these ‘moments’ that my ‘art’ is found.

My name is Beth and I go by ‘Beth Retro’ for my photography. I have been taking pictures for as long as I can remember, but it was only in 2008 that this became a serious pursuit and I became a freelance photographer. I live in South-East England, not far from London and I am willing to take commissions in this area. Colour plays a big part in my photography, as does creativity. I perceive my work to be largely art based and I often experiment with conceptual ideas. One of my favourite themes to explore is a take on retro and vintage, which shows in many of my photos. Anyone interested can view my work and contact me at: www.flickr.com/dreamincolour or alternatively at bethretro@hotmail.com.

Alli Woods: I’m 2 parts gypsy, 1 part soothsayer and 3 parts historian of pasts that never were… a singer of songs, a teller of tales, a keeper of myths, a creator of things slightly skewed. I am a photographer, knitter, painter, lover & fighter who is constantly on a quest to learn, discover and create. I like rain, pretty things, ugly things, shiny things and rusty things. My alter-ego is a massage therapist, reiki master and mild mannered adorer of cats.

Kara A. Harms: I am a senior in High School from Wisconsin. I am a chocoholic, an environmentalist, a dreamer, and a photographer. Photography has grown to be the most fulfilling thing i do: I love capturing the emotions or colors of a moment…that second of happiness on a person’s face, or the way a location looks with the sun shinning at 5:34 in the afternoon. The act of taking a photo is so simple yet very fulfilling when others can see the world through my eyes and witness the beauty i saw around me. Most of my photos are of my friends or the places i see everyday around me- they inspire my to capture their beauty and share it with the world.

Marta is a Catalan photographer currently living in a small town outside Barcelona with her husband and their three little children. She’s been taking pictures for as long as she can remember but it wasn’t until 1998 that she started taking photography more seriously. Marta pretty much takes pictures of everything trying to save those special moments, details, colors, lights, situations and places from the world around her. One of her favorite motifs is her children so you will find many children portraits on her website m a r t a . c o m.
