What a great article, Deb. I think it's wonderful that you've been able to move beyond the pain and reconnect with your family. Despite the past, as your daughter so truthfully expressed, she is your mother. And that's something special all by itself.

Dear Deb, Thank you for your honest and open article about depression. I am bi-polar and suffered from post natal depression after 5 out of 6 of my children (We kept getting broody anyway.) I have a fantastically supportive husband and that makes a lot of difference. Childbirth and PMS were definite triggers for me, so it was onto Cyclogest (a natural soource of progesterone, avoid the synthetic one) after my last baby and it treats thewith the PMS too. 15 years later I am still on it and it reduces the frequency of mood swings. Sorry you have had somuch streess recently. Do keep going, the nights are getting lighter, plant some spring bulbs in a pot for something to look forward to. Keep writing, it's fun it's therapeutic and you meet some nice people online. I had my first poem published in See Me, Hear Me - An anthology published by The Peoples Poet to raise funds for the Manic Depression Fellowship. Since then I've had more published. One day I hope to submit something to you. Anyway, I've rattle on. Anyway, it's 'Best Wishes' from me and thank you for sharing. Karen

Ummmmm... you need to be a little more self-content. It's people like you that are never going to be happy with themselves. Stop worrying about your appearance. You look fine, and that's pretty much the way you were born so stop complaining!

I enjoyed reading your piece. I think we all have wondered whether we should get involved or report suspected abuse. The answer is definitely YES. Please see www.nationalcasa.org and learn more about what one person can do to help reduce the cycle of abuse in our society. Get involved, be a volunteer, but most importantly - JUST DO SOMETHING.

I read this article Deb and was like, WOW! Several years ago my oldest daughter, then about 10, had a few friends over for her birthday. She invited one girl that I knew would have troubles staying over night at our home. (she's a big mama's girl) Anyhow, we had the birthday party in which her father stayed for the whole thing! The other kids parents had left, but not hers!

Then night came and this girl wouldn't eat, wouldn't eat supper or toast marshmellows with us.

I had set the living room up with their sleeping bags and movies, Disney movies, and when I wasn't looking, she called her father and told him to come and get her! And...she never said anything to me and the next thing I knew her father was flying into my living room, swooped his daughter up in his arms and took off!

I couldn't believe it!!! I was floored! My daughter was bawling, couldn't understand what was going on and I was MAD!!!!!!

So, I called her mother and told her what I thought! (and it wasn't very nice...) But come on! Talk about over protecting your kids!

What does that teach a kid????
