Imagine that the gods of Greek Mythology were real…and not only real, but living in Modern-Day London. There is no Mount Olympus in London and the gods must have (gasp!) jobs in order to pay their bills.

We find Aphrodite working as a phone sex operator, Apollo as a TV personality and Artemis as a Dog Walker. They still have their powers, well, some of the great powers….it just seems that their powers have wanned over the years.

And true to the times when they reined from Mount Olympus, the gods meddle on occasion in the lives of humans. Apollo falls for a girl in the audience of his show (Alice)…falls in love (thanks to Eros) and then is so happy when she shows up at his home…hired as the gods’ housecleaner. Thing is…what about Alice’s mortal love interest, Neil? Does his feelings matter?

Overall, I enjoyed Gods Behaving Badly. While it began a tad slowly, it wasn’t long before I was quickly turning the pages and chuckling as I followed the twists of turns of this first novel by Marie Phillips. It was a great “airplane” read…not too serious…and fast paced.

Gods Behaving Badly is available in the UK and will be available in the US on Dec 10th, 2007. And be sure and check out our interview with author Marie Phillips.
