I’ll admit it: I’m getting older. In fact, it’s only a few short months until I will celebrate my 40th birthday. As we age, our skin loses a bit of its elasticity…and for someone like me who is prone to very dry skin, winter is really hard to stay moisturized. To be honest, even in my early 30’s, I fought dry patches and flaky skin. Last year, though, was the first year my skin didn’t rebel against the elements.

My secret? UltraLuxe Nourishing Wash by Sonya Dakar.

I want to share more with you about the UltraLuxe Nourishing Wash, but first, let me tell you a little story. I was always a go-to-bed-with-make-up-on-my-face kind of girl for ages, but the rigors of a heavy traveling schedule led me to appeal to the estheticians that work at my favorite salon. While I had begun caring for my skin better than in year’s past, I still hadn’t been talked into using the (seemingly) expensive products the estheticians were using. I made an initial investment into the face wash (Sonya Dakar’s Bergamot Wash) that was recommended and found my face stayed smooth and the lines around my eyes (crow’s feet – yuck!) seemed less distinctive. Surprisingly, even though I was using the wash twice a day, the product lasted for more than three months!

I was hooked and each month, added a product or two until I had the full line of necessary items (minimally, you should be using a good quality face wash, moisturizer, and eye cream – no matter what your age is!)

By the way, Sonya Dakar is one of the “secrets of the stars” and you often see mention of her spa and products at Oscar and Emmy Time.  You don’t have to be a star, though, to have healthy skin.

Then, winter came, and the combination of being in buildings with heaters running – and flying on airplanes – left my skin a little dull and a little flaky. Again, I was in luck. Sonya Dakar had released her new UltraLuxe line. Geared for aging skin, the UltraLuxe Nourishing Wash is a unique oil-based wash that cleans but also moisturizes. Made with essential oils such as grapefruit, pomegranate, and verbena, the UltraLuxe wash left me feeling softer and my skin was actually glowing. Though 40 is fast approaching, my skin looks better than it did when I was 30…and most people would guess I’m closer to 35.

Now, when the summer heat hits Texas, I switch back to the Bergamot Wash, but come November, it’s time to return to the UltraLuxe. The week before Thanksgiving, I ordered the “Jet Set Kit” since I travel a couple days a week (it’s at an introductory price of $98) I also ordered a regular bottle of the UltraLuxe Wash to keep in my bathroom at home.
