I’ve always loved his Alex Cross novels, but his “Women’s Murder Club” series has certainly been a successful venture for Patterson - and his fans. When it comes to mysteries, you can’t beat the amazing mind of James Patterson. In 7th Heaven, Patterson has paired with Maxine Paetro, as he did in novels 4 to 6 in this series. Now, the Women’s Murder Club is comprised of four women friends, each excelling in their male oriented worlds: a San Francisco Homicide Detective, a Reporter, a District Attorney and a Medical Examiner.Told from the point of view of Detective Lindsay Boxer, we follow the twists and turns of two big cases: a pair of serial arsonist, praying on rich couples with college aged children…and the trial of a prostitute, who confessed to being with the former governor’s son when he died.

So who is behind the torture of couples….and the torching of the beautiful homes? And will the woman who witnessed the Governor’s Son’s death be brought to justice? And while dealing with these cases, Lindsay is wondering about the men in her life….and is on the verge of an emotional breakdown, Claire is nearing the end of her pregnancy, Yuki, the DA, is trying the case of her career and begins a troublesome relationship….and Cindy just tries to hang on…..

James Patterson gets a fair amount of criticism for his “factory” of novels, but I personally enjoy the bulk of his work.  7th Heaven is richly woven.  The story twists and turns and the ending will leave you open mouthed.  This is the best Woman’s Murder Club book since the first in the series “1st to Die”.  It’s well worth adding to your personal library…

7th Heaven is available February 5, 2008.
