Lightning in a Jar by Nancy Lee Shrader
Lightning streaks across the sky at midnight.
Small lightning bugs will burn just as bright.
Embers of fire are flash in the night.
Embers of life are small flashes of light.
Flashing daggers join crashing sounds of might.
Tiny flashes flutter and flitter all through the night.
Both dance all around aglow in their flight.
One to be feared the other a delight.
One burns what it touches in the silence of night.
The other burns in a jar its lid shut tight.
