Harvesting Smiles by C.A. Rose
You beam
like you won
the Power Ball;
eyes gleaming
and delighting.
Your pride
is searing
like sunshine
melting snow.
What is it?
I relished your mood
Look – you offer
your outstretched
Wal-Mart plastic bag.
I see dirt crusted cucumbers,
vine ripened tomatoes,
green peppers, zucchini
and yellow squash, -
your garden harvest,
an all organic inventory.
C. A. Rose (see a rose) has been writing for over 30 years. Her latest was the Reader’s Choice Award from Voice Magazine, where she won in both the poetry and nonfiction categories. Rose has visited all 50 states before settling in her Northeast Tennessee retirement home. The Appalachians are every bit as beautiful as the Black Hills where she grew up, but there’s much less snow. Website:http://www.RosePetalsandThorns.com
