Puzzle Complete by Nancy Lee Shrader

What is a puzzle, if its missing a piece?
An empty space, where true love will cease.

On the day we were wed,
no longer two separate beings were we.
Becoming one flesh forever,
a new branch grafted in the family tree.

When you’re not around, I feel incomplete,
so all alone, lost and forlorn.
How can I tell you what you mean to me?
Without you my love, a rose is only a thorn.

Much like a puzzle that is missing a piece,
the 999 pieces left are of no use at all.
To be complete that piece must be found,
So without you my dear, I feel very small.

Insignificant am I,
like the nine hundred ninety and nine.
You’re my puzzle complete,
like the branch on the vine

A piece can be lost,
if we don’t handle with care.
And be kind to each other,
all our love we must share.

So my dear, you’re the love of my life ,
We’ll be puzzled together for all time.
We opened our hearts to each other that day,
you gave me your heart, and I gave you mine.

What is a puzzle, when all the pieces are there?
A place where love grows, tender and fair.

Nancy would like to dedicate this poem to her husband Dennis
