Hello Spring…Welcome Home by Margaret Swanson

Hello spring,
I am here.
I’ve been waiting for you,
Welcome home.

Hello spring,
It’s been so long.
While braving the shocking blue winter, my heart sat frozen,
So cold, even my tears could not flow.

Hello spring,
I will confess.
Lost within the bitter whirling wind, a dark and chilling moment came,
Which found me wondering if you had ever really warmed me with your smile.

Hello spring,
Somehow dormant love survived.
A shadow of truth remembered you,
Faded memories searching in the darkness for the promises of your eyes.

Hello spring,
My faith is blooming.
I witness signs of you healing your wounded branches of yesterday,
Hope is reborn, sprouting bouquets of wishes, dreams, and daring dances.

Hello spring,
You hesitate so slightly in late afternoon.
Maybe fearing the last of winter’s dark memories,
My arms are here to nurture your efforts, to peep through nature’s frost, and raise your brave branches toward the sky.

Hello spring,
I am here.
I’ve been waiting on you,
Welcome home.

Margaret lives on a small farm in Texas, where growing gardens and raising animals offers an unending supply of inspiration and subject matter to quench her thirst for writing poetry, short stories, and children’s books. Margaret’s paper and pencil companions have never allowed chronic illness to steal her creative spirit; and her goals include completing and publishing her first children’s book (as well as an assortment of other freelance pieces), continuing to explore her desire to become a motivational speaker, and creating a homesteading lifestyle that allows her freedom of mobility and interaction with her garden and animals.
