Polka Dots by Cairol Dawson Worley
Necessity takes all the fun out of shopping,
at least for a woman in her never ending
quest for that perfect, youthful revitalizing bra
looking for the comfort of the old one
but with reminiscent full rounded support, shape,
colors, perhaps V’s secret, the wonder of illusion,
or just criss-crossing our chest like
some magical parachute which
by the way will never open -
stripes, prints, under-wire, padding or
not, it’s a sheer pain in the ass to find
the bra, like the last bra that no longer lives,
which has become the second skin now covering
what was once viewed as perky, pointy tits
that could knock the eye out of a sailor
just by staring too long in the general direction
but today is the day I must redress them, the girls,
giving way to cool gelling and invisible straps
only to discover it’s two inches bigger
one whole cup size smaller
at twice the price
for polka dots.
